Perhaps the best chance that the Republicans had of picking up a Democratic seat in the U S Senate just went up in flames. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ) son of the former Governor alledgedly accepted campaign contributions from executives and family members of a corporation with pending legislation. The same day that Kean, currently a state senator in New Jersey, cast a favorable vote on a budget bill regarding tax exemptions for the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance company, Kean recieved $13,300.00 in campaing contributions from executives and family members of that same company, including $4,100.00 from the companies CEO. It seems that Republicans just can't help themselves they are addicted to money.
Kean is currently involved in a very tight race to unseat the incumbent Bob Menendez (D-NJ), who was appointed by Governor John Corzine when Corzine was elected Governor and resigned his Senate seat. It was starting to look like Kean could possibly prevail over the Democrat in the Democratic state but it seems that this is now unlikely in the light of these serious allegations. |
